Created by Givaudan, Neurophroline™ is a neurocosmetic active derived from the seeds of wild indigo, Tephrosia purpurea. It was developed for the visible signs associated with skin stress, particularly changes in the appearance of tone and luminosity.

In a placebo-controlled human study, 21 women living in a polluted environment applied a cream containing 2% Tephrosia purpurea extract twice daily. Researchers reported significant improvements in luminosity and measured colour parameters after 14 days, with further change recorded after 28 days. Givaudan summarises the finding as a visible improvement in skin tone after two weeks.

Neurophroline™ also received the Gold Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award in the active ingredients category at in-cosmetics Global 2016. The recognition belongs to Neurophroline™ as an ingredient.

PENTAVITIN® is an award-winning, plant-derived carbohydrate complex developed by dsm-firmenich. On an ingredient list, it appears as Saccharide Isomerate.

It has a particular affinity for the surface layers of skin, where it binds readily and resists being rinsed away. In supplier testing of PENTAVITIN® as an ingredient, hydration was immediate and lasted up to 72 hours.

The research also mapped hydration at 30 points across the face in people from four ethnic groups, recognising that moisture levels can vary considerably between nearby areas.
